Alcohol extraction is the process used to strip the cannabis plant of its essential oils and trichomes. In this procedure the cannabis is immersed in either ethyl or isopropyl alcohol, strained and then heated until the alcohol has completely evaporated. It is imperative that the alcohol is completly removed as it can be a health hazard if not. The result of this process is a sticky, golden hash oil that contains nearly 90% of the THC from the marijuana plant. Based on the type of purification and extraction process used the hash oil can be transformed into an oil, shatter or budder.
