The primary phase of the cannabis plant's growth cycle when it is growing versus yielding its buds. In nature, cannabis plants receive sunlight according to the season and produce flower accordingly. During the summer season, 12 hours of sunlight, the plant will remain in the vegetative stage. As the seasons change and there is less sunlight the cannabis plant will begin to flower. In a controlled growing facility the grower can control the light cycles and thus control the vegetative stage.
