Cannabis Lounges in Amsterdam

About Feels Good Coffeeshop

Feels Good Coffeeshop is located on Oudezijds Voorburgwal, just a bit north of the De Oude Kerk (The Old Church). It is also within the Red Light District, towards the north end. This is one of the busiest sections of the city center, especially with visitors. Consequently, the narrow road that hosts this coffeeshop sees a great deal of foot traffic daily. Some nights, the area gets downright packed. The first thing you notice about this shop is the turnstile at the front doorway. Perhaps they want you to feel like you are entering an amusement park? Pushing through brings you to their front room. It is dimly lit, with strong accent lighting in green neon. You make your purchase at a counter here, which is fully behind a clear partition (bank teller style). The menu is written all over neon blackboards, adding to the accent lightning. It has an interesting vibe; feels like you have walked into a small neighborhood nightclub. In the back of the shop is the smoking lounge, which is partitioned-off behind a glass door. The décor is basic. Wooden tables and benches. Old wooden floors. The odd bit of artwork or photographs hung on the walls. It is fairly spacious though, and has a bit of privacy with the shape of the room and its sunken/elevated areas. Feels Good Coffeeshop has a reputation for quality cannabis at not-so-extreme prices. As such, you tend to find many locals in this place. Though also welcoming of tourists, the dark no-frills nature of this shop tends to put it lower on the list of “go-to” establishments. This might be a benefit to the savvy traveler. At Feels Good one may trade a bit of the unnecessary extras like table service and a fancy décor, for a more “real” Dutch coffeeshop experience. When you distill it to its basics, this means quality weed, a chill environment without any pretense, and perhaps some good conversation with your neighbor.
